The guy also used the term "fairy," and I unfortunately do not think he was talking about tiny winged creatures. You should consider including Turkey on your European tour. At which point I'll have to painfully pass it on to the next volunteer (it's technically Peace Corps' bicycle) and try to pick up the pieces of my life without it. But it's heartening to read that bicycles are bringing joy to other friends abroad. Also second you on the living alone thing - for all I zealously guard my alone time and private space, it's eerie to me that if I'm not careful I can go a whole day without seeing another soul...
